I'm joining a friend and will be posting 'Sum it up Saturdays' - featuring things big and small that we did during our home school week. This is week one, I didn't get much time to sit down and type (typing right now with a snoozing baby in my arms) so I mostly just tried to capture the week with photo. I'll try to get some better ones next week. I am excited, blogging about our week will help us to keep on top of our studies.
This week and next will be working on weeks 8 and 9 ECC in my fathers world.
We're taking our sweet time learning different countries and cultures, the past week we were in Brazil. We watched Brazil by new dimension media during nap time got a few projects in, including our reading fair project, straw flutes from the book global art (which were super simple, not messy, and the kids really enjoyed it AND they got to do it by themselves) We read the first few chapters of Nate saint and made paper airplanes. Started our rain forest science experiment by growing radish seeds, and finished up the week starting on a rain forest diorama - pictures to follow next Saturday Overall its the first productive week that we've had in a long time. ( i'm including the pics from the reading fair, this was two weeks ago, but including photos because the kids worked so hard AND G read his very first chapter book EVER. The reading fair was with our local home-school group at the library, we left it until the very last min, having 3 months to work on our projects and finishing 10 minutes before leaving the house for the fair!!)
Here are a few photos
My almost 2 year old had to get in on the school work, this is him trying to write his name.
The kids' projects look amazing! And I'm so interested in the Nate Saint book. I assume its from a series. ?? Off to research it now! And thanks for the video link. I'm always looking for good videos to play for the kids when they're a bit crazy and I need to sit and nurse or what not. This is fun!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenny, yes it IS fun. Did you find any info on Nate saint? We are really enjoying the book. My daughters new dream is to have a bedroom on the roof of our house. ;-)
